Family renewal....

Whew!
I'm finally feeling better after a couple of weeks of illness.
Do you suppose I have any brain cells left to articulate what's going on in my head?
You decide.....

This weekend was the Family Revival and I have to say that it was inspiring and compelling.
Our family was blessed and challenged to have a family mission statement.
Dr. Pipes also encouraged families to go on a mission trip together which I have already been praying about since God spoke to my heart a while ago about this.
We committed to being a family that seeks God in all things and we have committed to memorizing scripture as a family.
All in all it was very good.
In the meantime, I have discovered that since we now have a 16 year old in the house, it is in our best interest to change our parenting style which is totally throwing off my game!!
I was just getting the hang of things.....then she HAD to turn 16....uhhhh.......
We'll figure it out, don't worry.
Anyhoo, I am excited to see what God has in store for our families.
Here's our verse of the week:

"And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and all descernment, so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ."
Phillipians 1:9-10

busy busy busy....

A lot of stuff went on last week...where do I begin?
Well, let's see...
First of all, we had a friend staying the week with us while her parents traveled to Florida and....oh yeah......THE GIRLS FINALLY WON THEIR BASKETBALL GAME!!!!!!!!
Yeah, so THAT was VERY exciting cuz it's been 4 years since the team has seen a win.
Anyway, uhhmmm, what else?
Lacey turned 16....OMG!
We went to PF Changs to celebrate and it was fabulous.
The rest of the week was busy with planning Lacey's surprise Bday party which went off on Friday....and we totally got her...she had no idea.....It was great.
All of her friends and close family were there to help celebrate.
Her friend, Emma, made this fabulous this-is-your-life video put to some great music which was the highlight of the evening.
Then we had our last Family Fitness bible study...well, it will continue, just with another group.
I will really miss this group, though, they have been such a blessing to our family.
Whew!
Busy week.
More later.

a season of prayer.....

This week a group of us prayed and fasted over the healing of a dear friend from church who suffers horrible from several different maladies.
Her mother-in-law told us that God had spoken to her about why she has not been healed and it is simply because she hasn't asked the Lord to do so.
As I was reading my bible God took me to the story of the paralytic who was healed because his friends took him to the Lord Jesus and literally laid him at His feet.
Jesus saw the faith of the four friends and then He told the paralytic," My Son, your sins are forgiven."
And then He said," In order that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins, I say to you, rise, take up your pallet and go home."
I love the picture of the friends who had a great faith; a faith that led them to believe what Jesus could do for their friend.
It doesn't say that the paralytic had great faith, only the friends.
And Jesus healed him.
What a beautiful picture of intercession; praying on someone else's behalf.
I'm excited to see what the Lord will do for our friend.
I'll keep you posted.

Here it is!

OK!

Here is a great website to better know the candidates and the issues:

www.CitizenLink.com

And, here is a great site to match your values to a candidate:

http://www.speakout.com/votematch/

So, now you are without excuse!
Hey, let know who are matched with.

Your fellow Patriot

yesterday was just Monday, but today......

It's SUPER TUESDAY!!!!!
What's that mean?????
It means that 21 states are having their state primaries in which they decide who they want to be their presidential canditate.
Will it be decided today who the candidates will be?
No.
Our GOP caucus is on Saturday where it will be decided what delegates are going to our state primary which is February 22, I believe.
I think it is unlikely that Con and I would go to the National Convention as seated delegates because everyone wants in on the show during election year so the competition would be fierce, however, I would LOVE to go just to see how it all unfolds, this grassroots government of ours.
It's pretty awesome.
What can you do in the meantime?
Get informed.
Find out the issues, check voting records of the candidates to see where they stand on issues, watch the debates; I'm not kidding, they are highly enlightning.
Tell you what, I'll find the websites for voting records and for the issues and I'll post what I find.
People keep asking me who I think they should vote for and I say, "do your homework(which I will help with) and then vote your conscience."
We have a few fundamental rights, people, that are listed in our Constitution, and we have a huge right to vote for our politicians and our government officials. They are countries out there where voters literally take thier lives into their hands for this very right; the right to cast a vote.
If you take this priveledge lightly, say you choose not vote or, perhaps you just mimick someone else's vote because you choose to be uninformed, then I say that since you gave up that right then you have no right to complain about the outcome.
You know who you are; the couch comentators.
I urge you to get off that couch, quit complaining, get informed, and be a Patriot!
It's YOUR fundamental right!

studying Daniel....

The girls and I are studying Daniel chapters 7-12.
It makes for lively conversations about the future events of this earth and it affirms to me how wonderful it is to have a family that serves the Lord, loves the Lord, and one that is anticipating Heaven.
I NEVER had conversations with my parents about scripture and it's relevency to this time or to our lives, how alive it is or even how lucky we are to live in a place where freedon of religion is the backbone of this nation.
WOW!
That seems so long ago.....
I feel blessed that God has brought me so far and has taught me the value of teaching my children the ways of the Lord and for giving me such a delight in them.
Truly, I can see God's fingerprints on my life as I look back to when I was a small child and it fills me with such awe.....
Thank you, Father, for your blessings, your provisions, and for your plan unfolding in my life.
I look forward to what the future holds because YOU hold the future in YOUR hands and that fills me with such hope.
